Rates swing here more sharply than in many other cities, because the rhythm is set by trade fairs and fashion weeks. This list shows 9 673 properties: from hostel beds to apartments near the Duomo and five-star hotels. Below we have gathered concrete figures to help you plan a budget and avoid the priciest dates.
Milan is cheapest in November and clearly most expensive in February, when the city is busy with fashion week and major fairs. The gap between those months can be almost twofold, so here the dates weigh on the bill more than anywhere else. The second cheap month is May. Within the week the lowest rates fall on Thursday and the highest on Monday, driven by business travel. Booking about seven weeks before arrival usually gives the best prices. The average stay is just three nights, since many guests come for a weekend or on business.
| Property type | Price per night (from approx.) |
|---|---|
| Hostel bed | from approx. € 45 |
| Apartment or studio | from approx. € 70 |
| 1-2 star hotel | from approx. € 80 |
| 3-star hotel | from approx. € 120 |
| 4-star hotel | from approx. € 155 |
| 5-star and premium hotel | from approx. € 400 |
Location affects the price as much as the standard. The cheapest area is Zona Buenos Aires, where stays run on average more than a third below the centre. The priciest is the historic Centro Storico around the Duomo, while the most booked area is around Stazione Centrale, convenient for getting around. Other popular districts, such as Navigli, Brera or Porta Venezia, fall pricewise between these ends.
| Neighbourhood | Average price per night (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Zona Buenos Aires (cheapest) | approx. € 105 |
| Centro Storico by the Duomo (priciest) | approx. € 215 |
Indicative rates, based on price comparison data and lightly rounded. In February and during the fairs prices can double. You will see exact amounts after choosing dates in the search above.

Milan has a temperate climate with four seasons. The most pleasant time to explore is spring, from April to June, when it is warm and the city is full of events. Summer can be hot, with temperatures close to forty degrees. The fair calendar, though, is what mostly drives prices. Fashion weeks in February, March, September and October, plus the Salone del Mobile fair in April, can push rates up sharply. Prices also rise around big concerts at the San Siro stadium.
The average price of a double room is around € 410 per night, but the spread is very wide. A hostel bed starts from about € 45, a 3-star hotel from about € 120, and five-star properties from about € 400. Last-minute deals occasionally bring single 3-star rooms down to around € 33.
November is the cheapest, while February is the most expensive, with fashion week and major fairs. The gap can be almost twofold, so this is one of the cities where the choice of month weighs on the bill the most. The second cheap month is May.
You get the best prices by booking around seven weeks before arrival. Around the fairs and fashion weeks rooms sell out much earlier, so for those dates it is worth booking well ahead.
The lowest rates fall on Thursday and the highest on Monday, driven by business travel at the start of the week. If your dates are flexible, starting your stay on a Thursday helps bring down the average price per night.
Milan is served by three airports: Linate close to the city, Malpensa for long-haul flights and Bergamo Orio al Serio for low-cost carriers. Each has hotels with airport transfers, such as NH Linate. A handy choice for an early flight or a layover.
Zona Buenos Aires is the cheapest, on average more than a third below the centre. The priciest is the historic Centro Storico around the Duomo, while the most booked area is around Stazione Centrale, valued for its convenient connections.
